How to triple your gym’s growth in 6 weeks
...in just one hour per day ⏱
What’s up Gym World?
The wealthiest people swear by morning routines because they:
Fuel productivity
Create structure
Sharpen focus
Reduce stress
Improve decision-making
Top gym owners do too—and now, so can you. Chris Cooper’s latest book introduces GOLDEN, a 6-step framework designed to scale your gym faster (and honestly, forever).
It takes just 1 hour at the start of your day for 6 weeks to build habits and focus on things that actually improve your business. Chris says gyms using this framework have already tripled their growth by implementing it into their routines.
Here’s how it works: 👇
Get started early
⏱️ 5 minutes
To stay laser-focused and maximize productivity, you need to eliminate distractions. That’s why it’s important to find a quiet room where you can be alone for the next hour.
For Chris, this means:
Waking up at 5 am
Grabbing a coffee
Heading to the basement
Opening his laptop
If you’re doing the GOLDEN framework at the gym, try to find a room where you can close the door, like an office or similar space.
Open your mind
⏱️ 5-10 minutes
Being a gym owner is rewarding, but it can also be exhausting. So, dedicating time to reset mentally is key to getting the best results from your Golden Hour.
Activities that help calm the mind include:
Journaling
Meditating
Drawing or coloring
Listening to music
Chris uses 750words.com to brain-dump whatever’s on his mind in 750 words—like personal thoughts, business ideas, lists, or even rants. It’s his way of mentally warming up for the work ahead.
Lead with marketing “reps”
⏱️ 10-15 minutes
Marketing builds brand awareness and gets people through your doors. It includes things like:
But for the average gym owner, not knowing where to start can feel overwhelming. That’s why Chris suggests picking one marketing task and repeating it on the same day every week. For example:
Monday: Write a blog post.
Tuesday: Share Monday’s content with your email list and social.
Wednesday: Check in with 5 clients.
Thursday: Reach out to potential clients.
Friday: Schedule your social media for the following week.
Saturday: Take 10 client pictures or record two video interviews.
Sunday: Send a “weekly preview” message to your staff.
You literally follow this exact schedule for 6 weeks…
It might seem like a lot—or even boring—but these marketing tasks are proven to drive results. And over time, you’ll get faster at completing them, attract more clients, and grow your business.
Chris maximizes his content by turning his podcast into a blog post, then repurposing that blog into at least 5 social media posts.
Do your homework
⏱️ 30 minutes
The biggest part of your hour is for big projects that take time but create long-term growth. This is where you’re working on your business, not just in it.
Spending just 30 minutes a day lets you chip away at them and make steady progress without feeling overwhelmed.
Great starter projects for gym owners include:
Developing a retention program
Increasing your average revenue per member (ARM)
Reviewing and improving sales and marketing funnels
Creating systems for your team (like a staff playbook)
Mapping out your client journey to improve their experience
Building a financial dashboard to track metrics
Chris’s big project right now is writing a book with other Two-Brain Business mentors. It’s called Help Best and is designed for coaches. Stay tuned for the release…
If you’re unsure where to start, a mentor can help you prioritize what matters most. Or, try using the Eisenhower Matrix to organize projects by importance and urgency.
End after one hour
Commit to working for the full 60 minutes—and then stop.
Some days, life happens, and you might need to cut it short. If that’s the case, focus on your marketing “reps” because they’re what keep your business running.
Chris says, “Even if you only have 5 minutes, do something to grow your business every day.” What matters most is showing up consistently, building momentum, and sticking to the habit, even if it’s not perfect every time.
And if you’re in a good flow and go overtime, that’s okay too. Just don’t let it become an excuse to end early the next day.
Next steps and review
⏱️ 5 minutes
Productivity isn’t about how much time you spend—it’s about the outcomes you achieve. And a great way to finish your hour is by planning the rest of your day with a to-do list.
You can:
Write it on paper
Use your phone
Try apps like Winstreak or Google Tasks
Having a clear plan helps you stay focused and get more done. Plus, checking off tasks is a great motivator.
Imagine how satisfying it’ll feel to see all you’ve done by the end of the day…
Bonus: The Golden Hour Challenge
In his book, Chris explains that skills aren’t built overnight—they come from consistent, daily practice. He uses a method called habit stacking, where you start with small, manageable habits and gradually add more over time.
That’s why the Golden Hour Challenge is 6 weeks. Each week, you build on the last and add tasks to strengthen your habits and routines. Chris provides crystal-clear instructions to guide you:
Week 1: Set up content creation and distribution
Week 2: Add client connection and mining leads
Week 3: Plan your social media in advance
Week 4: Collect client testimonials
Week 5: Add staff weekly messaging
Week 6: Run a complete week
Week 7 and onward: Keep going
And that’s how you build strong habits and a solid routine to dedicate 1 hour a day to growing your gym.
